Webinar Title: "Creating an
Integrated Accreditation Maintenance Culture at your Educational
Institution"
Date and Time: Monday, November 29, 2010, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm
Eastern Time
Presenter: Dr. Alireza Lari, CQM, CQA
Description:
All
degree-granting academic institutions must be accredited by one of the
accreditation bodies. The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
and the United States Department of Education (USDE) “accredit the
accreditors,” examining and giving accreditors a seal of approval or
good rating. Only accreditors that have passed this test can evaluate
and accredit the academic institutions. The CHEA database lists more
than 7,700 degree-granting and non-degree-granting institutions and
more than 18,700 programs that are accredited by United States
accrediting organizations that have been recognized either by CHEA or
by USDE or both. In addition, some programmatic accreditors also
review free-standing, single purpose institutions in their respective
fields.
Regardless of who has accredited the institutions, there are certain
criteria that should be followed for initial accreditation and later
for periodical surveillance audits. Most of the institutions do not
have a permanent structure for dealing with issues required for
accreditation. Therefore, maintaining the accreditation becomes a
nightmare and creates a lot of pressure in the organization when they
get close to the accreditation audit time. This Webinar explains the
issues related to the maintenance of the accreditation and provides
some solutions to making maintenance and continuous improvement an
organizational culture.
